Steering

Call turn.steer() to send follow-up instructions during a running turn. The agent applies them at the next model boundary, preserving the response and tool work already in progress.

Send a follow-up

Keep the turn returned by agent.prompt() while you consume its events:

const turn = agent.prompt('Review this change.')

When the user sends another prompt, pass it to that turn:

await turn.steer('Focus on the database migration first.')

A user_message event marks when the instructions enter the conversation. Continue reading the same event stream and await the same turn.result.

After the turn finishes, use agent.prompt() to start another turn. Steering accepts text; send images with a new prompt. See turn.steer() for input limits.
